Pranayama is one of the many overlapping practices in Yoga. Prana (life force) and Yama (control) is described as the practice of regulating one’s breath in order to promote present moment awareness, increase physical vitality, and nourish our overall wellbeing.
In this workshop we will explore various yogic breathing practices such as Dirgha, Uijayi, Kapalbhati, Nadi Shodhana, Sitali, among others, to discuss their usefulness in our daily lives and within our yoga practice.
Regulating or controlling ones breath allows us to experiment with our own edge, to address our subconscious narratives, and to practice being in the moment. Attend in comfortable clothing, bring a journal if you’d like, and open lungs.
In this yogic breathing workshop you will learn:
- Several pranayama (breath techniques) to put to use in your daily life and asana practice
- An overview of how the quality of our breath affects the interconnected systems within the body
- The practicality of another limb of Yoga for maintaining holistic wellbeing.
