Top 20 Poses for Optimal Health will provide you will the alignment confidence you crave to deepen your asana practice at home or with your favourite teacher. All yoga asanas (poses) are dynamic and have their own unique personality. However, there are some, such as Adho Mukha Svanasana – Downward Facing Dog Pose – which are seen as building block poses that offer a significant gateway into many other postures.

We will work through a series of essential standing, twisting, forward extending, backwards extending and inverted postures towards maximizing health and understanding of proper alignment and biomechanics of the body. You will learn how to insert a prop as needed and how to read the information the prop is giving to you. Alignment cues and techniques will be provided as you work through these Top 20 poses to glean the benefits of a deep, safe and robust asana practice.

Meet Lori Berenz
Lori Berenz is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher at the Junior Intermediate II level. She has been studying with Senior Iyengar yoga teachers since 1998.  Over the years, Lori’s love of yoga inspired her to focus on teaching yoga and leave behind her corporate career of fifteen years in the field of Human Resources Management. She understands the challenges of balancing family, career and trying to implement yogic practices into a modern lifestyle.  Yoga has given Lorinumerous benefits and has transformed every aspect of her life.  She is truly grateful for the gift of yoga and is passionate about the continuous learning it provides.
As a teacher, Lori draws from her own personal experiences to work with each individual student at a level that is appropriate for them.  Through detailed instruction and personal attention, she encourages each student to challenge themselves so that they can reap the benefits of a robust yoga asana and pranayama practice.  Lori regularly attends workshops, Pranayama and Sadhana intensives to hone and deepen her understanding and learning. Lorihas studied several times with the Iyengar family at RIMYI (Iyengar Institute) in Pune, India and continues to participate in the teacher training program at Yoga Centre Toronto in preparation for her next level of certification.
