with Joanne Pineau, E-RYT 500, Certified Yoga Therapist, HBSc.
Friday April 15th, 2016
6-9pm
This workshop is part of our educational series. In Yoga & Spinal Health, Joanne will be sharing an experiential evening to enrich your understanding of the yoga asanas, and how to practice them safely and in a way that enhances the health of your spine.
Yoga and Spinal Health is designed for those that are experiencing minor aches and pain in their back. It is also great for yoga teachers as it will enhance your understanding of back pain and how to help your students. Bring your questions for Joanne to answer.
In Yoga & Spinal Health we will focus on:
- exploring the six movements of the spine with beginner yoga postures, including: twists, back bends, side bending and forward bending
- practicing postures that engage and strengthen the supporting structures of the spine (breathing apparatus, pelvis, legs and hips)
- learning how to twist without stressing the SI joint
- postures to release tension in the neck, shoulders and low back, and postures for non-specific back pain, including Downward dog variations, bridge pose and supported back bends
- discuss yoga, aging and spinal health
- cover basic anatomy
By the end of the evening you will feel taller, more flexible, blissfully tired and at peace in your own body and mind.
Please note:
- some knowledge and experience of basic yoga postures is required to take this class.
- this is a full evening of yoga so please come rested, bring a light drink or snack – we will break for 10 minutes and it will include some restorative poses.
Investment: $30.00 + HST
