sidewalkThis workshop will focus on the relationship between strength, stability and flexibility and how the balance of these three physiologic parameters plays a role in injury prevention. Through a basic review of anatomy and physiology, Lindsay will address how and why we get hurt and review the most common injuries in each area of the body. The second half of this workshop will be practical, focusing on therapeutic exercise strategies to optimally incorporate strength, stability and flexibility into a routine that will improve health, function and performance. Lindsay will finish off her workshop with a discussion of recent research relating to yoga and pain.

No prior experience is required. Come wearing loose, comfortable clothing and bring along a notebook if you’d like. 

In this Workshop You Will Learn:

  • Basic anatomy overview and common injuries for specific areas of the body

  • How to avoid those common injuries, or prevent further deterioration of strength if injury has already occurred

  • How Yoga and pain prevention work together

Lindsay-JohnstonDr. Lindsay Johnston is a chiropractor at Bruce County Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center in Port Elgin. Her unique approach to injury, pain and dysfunction combines individualized patient centered care, active release technique (A.R.T), acupuncture, joint mobilization/manipulation and rehabilitative exercise. As a lifelong athlete, she attempts to keep all of her patients participating in the activities they love and encourages individuals of all ages and abilities to live active lives. Her undergraduate background in kinesiology and keen interest in sports and exercise therapy have kept her continuously learning about injury prevention/management and performance optimization.
